The Perfect Guy is a trailer which inspired me to develop and create my plot, its is the same genre as my movie trailer, romantic thriller, so it would be wise to look how they have edited this trailer so it reinforces this thrilling effect. Firstly, they have used a lot of jump cuts and pans, to create this disoriented and scary effect to show a lot of chaos which will make the trailer appear thrilling. The duration is like 15 shots in 10 seconds, each shot is maximum 3 seconds long, by inserting so many shots in such a short duration the fast different movements using, jump cuts, reverse shots and non continuity editing will exaggerate the fighting and argument scene as if its long it will be tedious and not as shocking or thrilling. So using fades and dissolves or continuity editing predominately or for the drama scenes will not be the best idea. Overall I think the trailer is very clever in the way they have edited, its 2:36 minutes long and it shows me that for my specific genre the shorter the clips and the shorter the duration is the trick to make it appear this successful thrilling trailer.
I have decided to incorporate plots from both the Perfect Guy and The Black Swan. I liked the obsession love triangle story plot and with Black Swan, I was infatuated how the film itself was a metaphorical conceit as she wants this ballet position so much she becomes the Swan. This is a very thrilling and abnormal trailer as there is a lot of violence, self harm and sexual scenes which reinforces this psychological thriller genre which is what my film is. So once again it would be clever to research and see how the film producers put together such an exceptional trailer and how they reinforce the genre. From what I've researched the same rule applies to the perfect guy, at the beginning the equilibrium its a lot of continuity editing to show the story line at the start there does not need to be any chaos or fast movements, the duration of the clips are also way longer than they are to the end. Now the end bit which shows the disruption, the editing are fast jumps, reverse shots and short shots duration as the clips are much shorter, the lighting of the films are very low lighting to further create this eerie thrilling effect. The screenshots is different scenes which are maximum about 3 seconds long which shows the disruption and her thrilling chaotic behavior. There are long shots. medium close ups ect, a variety of shots from different angle and the short cut editing is what makes its petrifying and thrilling.
Overall from my research, I have gathered that for my genre the best option is at the start so the equilibrium use a lot of natural lighting so it represents a normal and everyday scene and for editing use a lot of continuity editing so the scenes are longer and can tell the narrative a lot of fades and tracking shots and long shot duration's as it reinforces that everything is normal and ordinary. However, when the disruption comes in its going to need to be edited slightly different to show this disruption and reinforce this thrilling and eerie scenes its best to use low-key lighting so its more petrifying and for the editing use non continuity editing, jump cuts, a lot of cuts, reverse shots, fade to black or wipe for transitions and a lot of short shot duration's, as this will successfully create this thrilling effect.
